Skunk Cabbage

Skunk Cabbage lysichiton americanum
Skunk cabbages can be found throughout Bainbridge Island. They are deciduous and have a large white bloom in Spring. The grow up to 5' across and 2' tall. They typically occupy poorly airated soil that is saturated with water, but not flooded. The ones at the Tree Garden have been introduced when the wetlands were created.
