Artist Statement for Allen Philips:
I am blessed to be able to work as an artist. My earliest memories are of the sea and I spent many years as a mariner/naturalist. Much of my work celebrates this. My wife grew up in Meso-American and I in the Pacific Northwest and I am exploring the artwork created by the peoples of those areas as well.
I started working in glass in 1976 and joined the Seattle Art Glass movement in 1993. I have attended Pilchuck Glass School and have worked with Dale Chihuly.
