Maindenhair spleenwort? Asplenium trichomanes
This specimen volunteered in the middle of the fern gully at the Native Tree Garden in 2005. We haven't had an expert come by and verify it yet. It is growing between the Giant Chain Ferns and the Spiny Wood Ferns on a north facing somewhat open bank about 5' above high tide. It was moved from a wet seep directly under the chain ferns to a slightly higher and dryer location 8' east. The fronds are about 18" long and it is currently in the last two mild winters, evergreen..
