Lady fern Athyrium filix-femina cyclosorum
There are a number of ferns at the Tree Garden that can be easily confused
with each other. The Lady Fern looks like a Spiny Wood Fern
but is deciduous. The Lady Fern is a large fern, up to 4' high, the
stalks are less fibrous than the other ferns, and will eventually creat
a small trunk
12" high or more. The Native Tree Garden has these ferns natually, they
grow well in the shade, and will take standing water in a forest swale
during sprintime without rotting better than the other ferns. They do
not do well in the dryer environments.
